Sutton Youth
Shelter
Partnering with
youth today to create a healthier tomorrow!
Welcome to Sutton Youth Shelter (SYS) website.
Our intention is for you to be just a click away from the information or services that you need, be it emergency shelter for youth, transitional housing supports, employment and education programs, housing and community supports and volunteer opportunities.
The Salvation Army
Sutton Youth Shelter is committed to strengthening youth and their families by
partnering with youth today to create a healthier tomorrow, and fostering safe
and healthy communities. Sutton Youth
shelter is a shelter and drop-in center for youth experiencing
homelessness or at risk of homelessness in the northern part of York
Region.
We encourage, model and teach community in Christ to meet the holistic needs
and develop the gifts of youth that we meet through compassion, support and
Christian love. Our aim is to be a
welcoming, safe place for all people who enter, towards things such
as community, belonging, dignity, respect, recovery, reconciliation,
friendship, and God.
The work at Sutton Youth Shelter is accomplished through unconditional
acceptance of each person who comes within its influence, combined with a
holistic rehabilitation approach and individualized care. We work diligently to send a strong and clear
message to all people who come here including staff, volunteers, funders, or
community members, that no one is more or less important than anyone
else. We believe that all people have
been created in the image of God. Therefore we believe that every
person has gifts to offer the world. It is out of our faith in the Creator
God that we believe in “Giving Hope Today”.
Support for this program was made possible
through the York Region Community and Health Services Department's Community
Development Investment Fund.
